Causes of Asherman’s syndrome

The most common cause of uterine synechiae or Asherman syndrome is damage done to the endometrial lining during a D&C procedure. Other surgical procedures that can affect the endometrial lining include hysteroscopy to remove uterine fibroids, for example.
