Is surrogacy legal in Canada?

Surrogacy is legal in Canada as regulated by the Assisted Human Reproduction Act (Bill C-6, AHRA). According to the AHRA, only altruistic arrangements are allowed. Surrogates can't receive any kind of financial payments for carrying someone else's child, except for a reimbursement of expenses.
