Hysterosalpingography for analysing tube permeability

Hysterosalpingography is a gynecological test for the evaluation of female fertility. Its main objective is to study the permeability of the fallopian tubes. This test is of vital importance when establishing the best assisted reproduction technique, since if the fallopian tubes are damaged, artificial insemination cannot be performed. On this occasion, the treatment chosen would be an in vitro fertilization because otherwise the union between the sperm and the egg would not take place.

The procedure for performing a hysterosalpingography consists of having a special contrast liquid pass through and following its path through the application of X-rays. If the fallopian tubes are blocked, the fluid will not be able to follow its path and will not be visualized.
