Male Hormone Check

The levels of the hormones involved in sperm production can be very helpful in determining the cause of sterility in men. The main hormones that are studied after a blood draw in men are:

Testosterone levels

should be between 300 and 1000 ng/dL. Amounts of the hormone testosterone outside this range would be indicative of various pathologies in the male.

FSH

the values considered normal for this hormone are between 1 and 12 mUI7mL. This hormone is responsible for stimulating the production of Sertoli cells, promoting the synthesis of testosterone and spermatogenesis.

LH

A male shows normal LH levels when he is between 2 and 12 mIU/mL. This hormone stimulates the production of Leydig cells, associated with testosterone synthesis.

Prolactin

the values considered normal for men are between 2.5 and 17 ng/mL.
