Amniocentesis in surrogacy can detect chromosomal and genetic abnormalities, such as Down syndrome.
This is a common prenatal test that is usually performed during the second trimester of pregnancy. A small sample of the amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus is removed for further analysis.
