Surrogacy is a long and complex process. Therefore, it is not a decision that should be taken lightly. It is common for both the surrogate and the IPsto be psychologically tested to make sure they are emotionally prepared for treatment.
If a surrogacy treatment is cancelled before IVF, the consequences are not irreversible. Most likely, compensation will only be payable as specified in the surrogacy contract.
However, if cancellation takes place once the embryo has been created and especially once the embryo transfer has taken place, situations of disagreement could arise. In such cases, this is likely to be detrimental to one or more of the parties involved.
