Surrogacy is permitted in Russia to heterosexual couples and single females. However, and especially single women, you should be very cautious if you decide to pursue surrogacy in this country, as you may encounter a number of legal hurdles when it is time to return to your home country with the baby. Make sure that the law in your home country does not include special requirements. For example, many countries require the presence of a male partner to obtain legal parenthood. In such case, a single intended mother would not be able to have a baby via surrogate in Russia, as she would be unable to come back with the baby.
