In Ireland, legal paternity is granted the biological father and the natural mother, it being unclear whether the natural mother is the biological mother or the surrogate mother, although it generally refers to the woman giving birth.
In the event of a conflict between the intended parents and the surrogate, taking into account the non-binding nature of the contract, the conflict will be resolved by a court in the same way as the usual custody problems.
