There is no express law regulating surrogacy in Ireland. However, this legal vacuum means that surrogacy treatments are carried out, although without guarantees or security since the surrogacy contract is not binding.

However, commercial surrogacy is generally rejected and contrary to legislative policy. However, reasonable financial compensation for pregnancy-related expenses is accepted.
