In conventional IVF, the oocytes are not removed from the cumulocorona cells and it is the sperm itself that penetrates the ovarian membranes by itself until it reaches the cytoplasm of the oocyte.

On the contrary, in IVF-ICSI, the cells of the cumulus-corone are eliminated to prevent them from penetrating the ovarian interior and the sperm is introduced by the specialist himself into the interior of the ovum.
