Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is caused by medication given to stimulate the ovary. The main symptoms it causes are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc. Therefore, OHSS is one of the main risks of in vitro fertilization (IVF).

On rare occasions, ovarian stimulation reaches a serious state, as it is meticulously controlled by ultrasound and blood tests.

If a situation of OHSS is detected, the recommendation is to abandon the medication to avoid serious consequences.
