Although the maximum number of assisted reproduction treatments is not clear, it is true that there are some coincidences among the specialists. For example, there are studies that seem to indicate that the probability of pregnancy from artificial insemination (AI) does not increase after the fourth attempt. However, the success rate of AI is accumulative, that is, it does increase from the first attempt to the fourth.

On the other hand, the number of IVF cycles with own gametes is usually 3 attempts. It is considered an IVF cycle when there is a phase of ovarian stimulation. Therefore, the transfer of surplus embryos does not count as an attempt.
