Male couples are the group most potentially interested in surrogacy, since they lack the biological capacity to gestate. The participation of a surrogate mother is therefore the only option available to them to have biological children. However, gay couples do not represent the majority of couples who ask for surrogacy treatment.
Female homosexual couples, on the other hand, rarely need it. It is rare for a female couple to have problems carrying a pregnancy to term.
