Twin pregnancy is more likely to cause low birth weight, premature birth, miscarriage, etc. In addition, twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) can occur as long as it is a monochorial pregnancy, i.e. identical twins that share the placenta. One of the fetuses will receive an excess of oxygen and nutrients causing a defect in the other twin. This happens because the blood vessels of both fetuses are connected.
