Twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTFS)

Twin pregnancy is more likely to cause low birth weight, premature birth, miscarriage, etc. In addition, twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) can occur as long as it is a monochorial pregnancy, i.e. identical twins that share the placenta. One of the fetuses will receive an excess of oxygen and nutrients causing a defect in the other twin. This happens because the blood vessels of both fetuses are connected.
